Our client from Montenegro, Alen Tošić, decided to get to know the American life at Prep Academy before enrolling in college.

He signed a one-year contract with one of the best basketball academies in the US - Carolina Basketball Academy.

Prep Academies are an excellent choice for students that want to adapt to the American lifestyle and education system before their studies, and better prepare for life on another continent.

You can find out more about Alen’s experience in the text below.

1. Introduce yourself, and tell us more about you.

Hello, everyone. I’m Alen Tošić, I’m from Plav, Montenegro. I’m currently playing basketball in Atlanta at the Carolina Basketball Academy.

2. Why did you chose to continue your career in America?

I opted for studying in the USA because it’s the only country that actively supports the student-athlete lifestyle, namely being able to study and play basketball at the same time.

3. How did your parents react when you told them you want to study in the USA?

Like all parents, they were worried in the beginning, but didn’t say “no”, and instead showed interest. At times even more than I did. They saw all the pros, but all the cons as well. I can only imagine what it was like for them, to separate from their child so early and have him move so far away, but their support and faith in me was my main motivation.

4. Are you satisfied with your choice to go to the Prep Academy and how do you like the experience so far?

I have to say I’m very satisfied so far. The reason is that, despite the many training sessions and games, I’m still given a lot of time to study and prepare for college.

5. How much did “Head Coach” help you in finding the Academy?

I got a lot of help from everyone in the “Head Coach” agency, and this wouldn’t be possible without them. I’d like to take this opportunity to give thanks to everyone there for the help they provided, as well as the constant support.

6. What advice would you give to young athletes that are considering moving to the US?

They should know that this is very demanding and it takes a lot of time, effort and sacrifices. If a person is ready for all that, as well as to go through new experiences completely alone, I think this is the real deal for them. In the end, I think it’s worth it because the number of opportunities that are available here is nearly infinite.

Alen, thank you for talking about your experience. We wish you the best of luck in your career!
